David Fincher talks Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequel, new mega-banner for The Hobbit 3 and new Hunger Games 4 trailer

Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo David Fincher Says Girl Who Played with Fire Will Happen

David Fincher’s glittering career began with the not so exciting Alien 3, his feature debut. He then surprised us all by following it up with Seven, The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Social Network. He bravely ventured back into a potential franchise with 2011’s greatly successful The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s books and the Swedish trilogy of films. Talks for a sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire, seemed to have died down until Fincher began promoting his latest Oscar hopeful Gone Girl.

“I think because Sony already has spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script so it will result in something. The script that we now have a huge potential, I can reveal as much as it is extremely different from the book.” Should the project be realised, it’d star Daniel Craig (Skyfall, Casino Royale, Munich, Layer Cake, Road to Perdition) and Rooney Mara (Her, The Social Network, Side Effects).

Today a massively awesome banner for fantasy epic The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was released. Sadly, it’s slightly big to fit into our blog but you can find a link for it here, courtesy of Coming Soon. Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, Heavenly Creatures, King Kong) directs the cast of Martin Freeman (Sherlock, Fargo), Ian McKellen (X-Men), Luke Evans (Dracula Untold), Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness), Richard Armitage (Into the Storm), Evangeline Lilly (Lost), Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Manu Bennett (Spartacus), Aidan Turner (Being Human), Dean O’Gorman (The Almighty Johnsons), James Nesbitt (Bloody Sunday), Ken Stott (Shallow Grave), Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who), Ian Holm (Alien), Christopher Lee (Dracula), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) and Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine).

Finally, the second trailer for sci-fi sequel The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, the third in the series, has been released. The film, directed by I am Legend’s Francis Lawrence, will star Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle), Julianne Moore (The Big Lebowski), Donald Sutherland (MASH), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote), Woody Harrelson (The Master), Liam Hemsworth (Knowing), Jena Malone (Into the Wild), Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right), Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones), Sam Clafin (The Quiet Ones), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale), Willow Shields (The Wonder), Toby Jones (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Elizabeth Banks (Man on a Ledge) and Stanley Tucci (The Terminal).
